Our Commitment to Sustainability and Community Impact
At la Tierra Salon & Day Spa, a dedicated member of Green Circle Salons, we passionately advocate for environmental responsibility and community engagement. Every day in the salon, we diligently recycle various salon items from color tubes and shampoo bottles to the trimmed hair and excess hair color. We take pride in the innovative and sustainable repurposing of these materials. For instance, hair color waste is transformed into clean energy after it is separated into water and oil for fuel conversion. Recycled metals are reimagined as car parts or bicycles. Paper and cardboard are processed into paper pulp for new paper products or cellulose insulation. Plastics are sorted, cleaned, and remade into new shampoo and product bottles. Another way we here at la Tierra Salon & Day Spa strive for more opportunities to improve worldwide sustainability is through our partnership with Aveda beauty products. Aveda pursues sustainability and reduced environmental impact through their certifications as a Certified B Corporation and being Leaping Bunny approved with 100% vegan ingredients. Aveda also pursues sustainability through its partnership with charity: water, a non-profit organization that provides access to clean drinking water to communities around the world. At la Tierra, we diligently participate in this partnership with charity: water throughout the year and especially during April as a way to celebrate Earth Month. Here at la Tierra, we spend two months each year fundraising for charity: water, and many of our employees have participated in the Walk for Water fundraising event on Earth Day.
Over the years, we encourage our valued clients to join us in these eco-friendly practices with Aveda and Green Circle Salons. Clients enthusiastically participate in our sustainability efforts every day in the salon by supporting our partnership with Green Circle. To support our recycling program and our ongoing commitment as a Green Circle Salon, we charge a $2 fee per client service visit.
